Summer is coming and I had absolutely no choice but to paint some tomatoes. This once was quite simple. First off, I made a light sketch of the tomatoes and the background. Then I did a light under painting using burnt sienna. After that I blocked in all the large areas of color in the background and the foreground, then I began to blend the colors together. Once that was finished, I layed down the colors in the tomatoes, and began to slowly  blend the colors together. I didn't have too much to tune up afterwards. I wanted to this painting in under 30 minutes...it too me about 40 to complete.

In the near future (hopefully i can remember) I plan on making some time laspe videos of my progress throughout a painting. Ill give a few test runs this weekend maybe. But keep your eyes peeled if youre interest! See ya!

So its almost been a year since Ive completed an ACEO. I cant begin to tell you guys how much Ive missed doing them. Its just something about painting in a small format that really intrigues me. Since its been awhile, I figure I would do something that was fairly easy..a still life pear. Though having no reference to go by, I painted this solely on what Ive remembered. So I haven't had much time this month to really work on my daily painting practice. Mainly due to a few commission pieces that I have to finish by the end of the month. But I finally got around to getting a few out for the weekend. In this painting I just imagined up a few pears, not really thought of..just figured I would wing it with my imagination. Ive been meaning to lay on a few layers of glaze just to intensify the depth of the painting. But I think Ill just leave this one the way it is. About this Painting

This painting was just something that I thought up using only certain parts of what I could remember around the waters edge on Gay St. by the court house. I walked around a for a little bit taking in the city that was lit up by the moon light. I was able to grab a few photos from this night to better help me with some of the lighting. What I really enjoy about this one is the way the clouds are lit up from the full moon. I added the cityscape with only using certain points of the city.

This painting was originally a gift to someone for Christmas. I just had to blog about this one, mainly because it was my most favorite and best piece that I completed in 2010. What I really like about this one is the amount of texture and how the colors smear together. I made this whole painting with a palette knife, and it has me wanting to many many more of these in this particular style. Check back often to see what I come up with in 2011. Also this is my 100th post, pretty excited about that as well! Hope everyone has a solid day!

This painting here that Ive just recently painted was for the Google Street View Contest. I like this particular contest because it give you the opportunity to paint and google image within the selected boundaries for the monthly painting contest. This month was focused on the island is Hawaii. I picked this image because Ive always liked surfing, and they say the best place for surf in Hawaii is the North Shore. I was lucky enough to find this great image a beach located on the Kamehameha Highway. If you like my painting please vote for me here at the Google Street View Contest

Over the weekend my friend and I were talking about birch wood trees, I think she wanted to paint one...but I think I may have beat her to it, haha. The drive home from the town of Cambridge was somewhat long, about 15 miles. Maybe for some that may not be that long, but as a kid it was. This painting right here is an image that I remember seeing everyday as kid living outside of Cambridge, MD. I painted this completely out of memory. The tiny paddle boat was the only way to get to the bigger crab boat that we would have tied up the same pole that the skiff is tied to. I hope you enjoyed this painting as much as I do. One of my favorite places to go ever since I was a kid. I can remember being 12 years old waking up at 3am to go crabbing with my neighbor during summer break from school. I continued to do this until I was 18. I can definitely say I miss spending the majority of my days on the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding rivers.
