In this painting, I wanted to only use a palette knife. I tried alot of stuff in this painting that I haven't normally cram all in just one painting. However, this was such an awesome piece to create. It was pretty exhausting at times...being that I used several layers of glaze. I had to wait from time to time. I wanted so bad to complete this in one night, but adding the layer upon layer of glaze it took 2 more days longer haha. This oil painting is packed with texture and tons of color...I almost needed sunglasses to photograph this outside. Ill add some more photos tomorrow, when I have more light outside. Ive been wanting to do something folk art-ish. And I thought, why not paint a pot of tulips. This whole painting was created using on a palette knife and tons of impasto. I love the texture on this and by sheer accident I rubbed a paper towel on it and made a pretty sweet pattern on the background of the painting. It was only a matter of time before I went back to painting Landscapes. This past weekend I set out in hopes of getting some solid landscape photos. I went all over Dorchester County in Maryland getting photos of everything that I thought would make for good upcoming paintings. This particular oil painting is the first of the series from that day, also one of my favorites. I love that there is not a cloud in the sky. But what really drew me to this photograph was the old abandoned farm tower along the treeline. More paintings are set to be done this weekend, stay tuned!

This painting was originally a gift to someone for Christmas. I just had to blog about this one, mainly because it was my most favorite and best piece that I completed in 2010. What I really like about this one is the amount of texture and how the colors smear together. I made this whole painting with a palette knife, and it has me wanting to many many more of these in this particular style. Check back often to see what I come up with in 2011. So Ive been super busy due to the holidays and this is one of the first paintings Ive done since the new year rang in. I like this painting especially the texture. But that's not it, I really enjoyed painting the subject. I lived in Colorado for about a year and was able to take some really awesome photos while I was there. This was so much fun to paint, and I normally don't use only a palette knife to complete a painting, but since Ive been having so much fun using it..I figured why not. Its been about a week since Ive done one of these small daily paintings, but that doesn't mean that Ive not been painting. While Christmas was here, us in the Mid-Atlantic Region received about 8-9 inches of snow. It was pretty awesome, being that the weather guys called for snow on Thursday, then no snow at all, to snow on Christmas Day. This oil painting right here is of a photo that I never really intended to take, though I thought "why not use it". As a gift for a certain someone for Christmas I made them a large only palette knife impressionism painting. It turned out awesome, and I figured why not try one in a much smaller format. This is the outcome of that idea. Hope you all enjoy it!

This painting right here is an image that I remember seeing everyday as kid living outside of Cambridge, MD. I painted this completely out of memory. During the summer months, there was quite a few storms that came up the Choptank River. This one in particular was pretty cool. The way the river changed colors because of the clouds overhead. The blueish sliver colors of the water is what attracted me to paint this photo I took over the summer.

The first dawn of autumn in Maryland started off somewhat clear and warm. I brought out my Nikon and snapped a few pictures to paint later in the week. This is the result of one picture that I took. I like how the sky looked. Normally it would be darker overhead towards the west. But because of the thin high clouds the lit them up in almost a cream color.
