December Snowfall, Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"December Snowfall"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7"
December 30, 2010
By Tim Webster

Its been about a week since Ive done one of these small daily paintings, but that doesn't mean that Ive not been painting. While Christmas was here, us in the Mid-Atlantic Region received about 8-9 inches of snow. It was pretty awesome, being that the weather guys called for snow on Thursday, then no snow at all, to snow on Christmas Day. This oil painting right here is of a photo that I never really intended to take, though I thought "why not use it". As a gift for a certain someone for Christmas I made them a large only palette knife impressionism painting. It turned out awesome, and I figured why not try one in a much smaller format. This is the outcome of that idea. Hope you all enjoy it!

Earlier today I went outback of my old house out in the country and painted this. This is one of my favorite plein air paintings that I've done yet. I love the style of plein air paintings and I'm slowly but surely learning the techniques. What I like most about this is one is the greens and blues, both very strong throughout the painting as well as the actual view. I hope you all have a pleasant day!

The first dawn of autumn in Maryland started off somewhat clear and warm. I brought out my Nikon and snapped a few pictures to paint later in the week. This is the result of one picture that I took. I like how the sky looked. Normally it would be darker overhead towards the west. But because of the thin high clouds the lit them up in almost a cream color.
