Two Tomatoes, Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Two Tomatoes"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7" inches
May 13, 2011
by Tim Webster

Summer is coming and I had absolutely no choice but to paint some tomatoes. This once was quite simple. First off, I made a light sketch of the tomatoes and the background. Then I did a light under painting using burnt sienna. After that I blocked in all the large areas of color in the background and the foreground, then I began to blend the colors together. Once that was finished, I layed down the colors in the tomatoes, and began to slowly  blend the colors together. I didn't have too much to tune up afterwards. I wanted to this painting in under 30 minutes...it too me about 40 to complete.

In the near future (hopefully i can remember) I plan on making some time laspe videos of my progress throughout a painting. Ill give a few test runs this weekend maybe. But keep your eyes peeled if youre interest! See ya!

"One Pear"

3.5" x 2.5"
ACEO
May 4, 2011
by Tim Webster
So its almost been a year since Ive completed an ACEO. I cant begin to tell you guys how much Ive missed doing them. Its just something about painting in a small format that really intrigues me. Since its been awhile, I figure I would do something that was fairly easy..a still life pear. Though having no reference to go by, I painted this solely on what Ive remembered. Hope you guys like it!

Who's Got The Herb?, Original Oil Painting on Barn Wood by Tim Webster

"Who's Got The Herb?"
Original Oil Painting on Vintage Barn Wood
31.5" x 6.5"
April 2011
by Tim Webster

This painting was made for a certain someone for Easter. I have to admit, this sign came out awesome! The photo however didn't really come out all that good..but I think its because of the odd size of it. This is an oil painting on antique barn wood. It was a pretty simple process creating this. I think the hardest part was getting the lettering and the herb jars even. I think I will offer original copies of this if anyone is interested. It wont be this particular on per say...but something of the same nature. If you're interested, shoot me over an email. Thanks everyone!

Modern Flower Vase, Original Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Modern Flower Vase"
Original Oil Painting on Stretched Canvas
32" x 12" inches
2011
by Tim Webster

In this painting, I wanted to only use a palette knife. I tried alot of stuff in this painting that I haven't normally cram all in just one painting. However, this was such an awesome piece to create. It was pretty exhausting at times...being that I used several layers of glaze. I had to wait from time to time. I wanted so bad to complete this in one night, but adding the layer upon layer of glaze it took 2 more days longer haha. This oil painting is packed with texture and tons of color...I almost needed sunglasses to photograph this outside. Ill add some more photos tomorrow, when I have more light outside. Until then, I hope you enjoy this piece.

Bowl of Fruit, Original Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Bowl of Fruit"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7" inches
2011
by Tim Webster
This is the first smaller oil painting that Ive done in a while. I didn't have anything in the sense of references, just what Ive learned over the past few months. I had a great time painting this. All I could think of was..."bright the better", and I like. I dig that the colors give it almost a surreal feel to the painting. Ill be getting more of these small paintings up over the coming weeks. Its hard sometimes to make these everyday with other projects going at the same time. So keep on the look out. Thanks everyone!

WoodWick Candle. Original Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"WoodWick Candle"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
7" x 5"
March 30, 2011
By Tim Webster

About a month ago, I went to this really cool restaurant in Kent Island, MD called Cracker Barrel. It was a pretty cool place. We had a little bit of a wait, but that was not a problem at all considering the waiting area was also a store! The store only sold things from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Basically all the cool things you remembered while growing up. Well we ending up buying a couple of candles and since we spent a certain amount, we received a free Woodwick Candle. This oil painting is if that candle. I enjoyed painting this candle ALOT! Just wanted to do a still life that wasn't in the "everyday" style. Bright colors was what I had in mind...I think I accomplished that.

One Bright Cup of Coffee, Original Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"One Bright Cup of Coffee"
Orignal Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7"
March 14, 2010
Tim Webster

I have to admit, Ive been on a bit of a coffee cup kick. Rather then painting traditional still life, I thought that a nice vivid twist would turn out looking neat. The colors of this painting are based on my favorite ones, blue and green. Pretty basic painting, didnt take too long to complete. I do look forward to making more of these in the future!

Coffee Candy, Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Coffee Candy"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
7" x 5"
March 9, 2011
By Tim Webster

This was an commissioned oil painting for my dear friend Nicki that runs a blog called Diaries of a Neurotic Non-Trad, which you should all go ahead and check it out! I based the angles and lighting slightly different then what I normally do. I wanted something bright and colorful and I think that the outcome of this painting really shows just that. I love the color blue, and I have a tendency of making it extremely intense. I also felt that the blues fit in perfect with the actual color of the coffee cup. Since this turned out so bright, I thought that the title of this painting "Coffee Candy" would be just right. I hope you all like it. I'm currently taking commission based projects at this time. Thanks and have a great day!

Candle Stick, Primitive Folk Art Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Candle Stick"
Oil Painting on Antique Driftwood
32" x 3.5"
Feb. 28, 2011
By Tim Webster

This is painting was a blast, took about 3 hours to complete but worth every minute of it. The image started out as a simple sketch and the next day that sketch turned into this painting. Just like the painting I did the day before, I went towards a traditional folk art feel. The wood was collected from the banks of the Chesapeake bay. The driven nail holes and over all age of the wood gave this painting a nice primitive feel. More to come this week. Thanks everyone!

Put It There Pal, Primitive Folk Art Painting by Tim Webster

"Put It There Pal"
Oil Painting on Antique Driftwood
3.5" x 34"
Feb. 28, 2011
By Tim Webster

In the recent weeks Ive been on a huge primitive folk art kick. Also something which has been wanting to come out of me is my love for traditional tattoo designes. I really enjoyed painting this one, it was pretty easy but the meaning behind this painting is indeed to hard to explain. Ive been thinking long and hard for weeks to come up with an original idea and this painting was the first to spawn out. Its much different then what Ive been doing for the past year, however change is enevidable. So folk art tattoo designs created in a primitive way is whats on the menu for this year. Hope you enjoy this.

Pot of Tulips, Folk Art Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Pot of Tulips"
Original Oil Painting on Stretched Canvas
36" x 12"
February 18, 2011
By Tim Webster

Ive been wanting to do something folk art-ish. And I thought, why not paint a pot of tulips. This whole painting was created using on a palette knife and tons of impasto. I love the texture on this and by sheer accident I rubbed a paper towel on it and made a pretty sweet pattern on the background of the painting. Thinking theres going to be a series of these in the near future. Hope you like it, and leave some feedback if you like! Have a solid weekend everyone!

Eastern Shore Winter Landscape, Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Eastern Shore Winter Landscape"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7"
Feb. 10, 2011
By Tim Webster

It was only a matter of time before I went back to painting Landscapes. This past weekend I set out in hopes of getting some solid landscape photos. I went all over Dorchester County in Maryland getting photos of everything that I thought would make for good upcoming paintings. This particular oil painting is the first of the series from that day, also one of my favorites. I love that there is not a cloud in the sky. But what really drew me to this photograph was the old abandoned farm tower along the treeline. More paintings are set to be done this weekend, stay tuned!

Modern Coffee Cup, Still Life Daily Painting, By Tim Webster

"Modern Coffee Cup"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5x7 inches
February 9, 2011
By Tim Webster

Last week I painted a still life coffee cup, and I had so much fun doing it and had such a great response from others that I felt I should paint another one! This one was a little more difficult because of the multiple colors and textures. Thought it was hard, it was also a great learning experience. More of these are planned for the future, keep an eye out for them!

This was a fun little painting to do. It was fairly simple to create. Basically I want to focus on basic shapes with very little mixing involved. What I like about this the most is that Ive never really painted pottery before, this being the first time. I really enjoyed this painting alot. And I do plan to paint a few more these in different prospectives in the near future. Thanks for looking!

Kent Narrows Farm House, Daily Painting by Tim Webster

"Kent Narrows Farm House"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
8 x 10 inches
January 29, 2011
By Tim Webster

I had a blast doing this painting. I figure I would jump the size up in my daily painting practice and focus on a slightly larger size. Thought don't get me wrong, I love the 5x7's and 6x6's but it was time to move on to something bigger. What I like about the 8x10's is that I have much more room to work with. I can add more detail to the overall painting. Over the summer I just went for a drive to Kent Island, which is about 45 mins north of Cambridge, MD. I really liked how the sky looked, even though I added the clouds which were not in the original photo. However, now I wish I didn't had lol. I will be doing much more of these subjects on the 8x10's. Hope you like them!

3 Pears, Original Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"3 Pears"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5 x 7 inches
January 28, 2011
By Tim Webster

So I haven't had much time this month to really work on my daily painting practice. Mainly due to a few commission pieces that I have to finish by the end of the month. But I finally got around to getting a few out for the weekend. In this painting I just imagined up a few pears, not really thought of..just figured I would wing it with my imagination. Ive been meaning to lay on a few layers of glaze just to intensify the depth of the painting. But I think Ill just leave this one the way it is. If you're interested in this painting, you can purchase it directly through my Etsy store with the link provided below. Thank you and have a solid weekend!

Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
5" x 7"
January 21, 2011
By Tim Webster

Once again I want to start today off with a simple little alla prima painting of 2 oranges. I also messed around with a little glazing in the background to intensify the compliment color of the oranges. This only took about 45 mins to do, but i had to wait a little bit for the paint to dry before adding the glaze. I will be doing a few more of these this week only, so grab them up while you can. Hope your all have a swell day!

I have to say that the last of on these that I painted was this past summer, and I've really missed doing these. I had alot of fun painting this particular one because Ive never painted a flower before. Be sure to catch more of these in the near future!

Dorchester County Shadows, Daily Oil Painting by Tim Webster

"Dorchester County Shadows"
Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
7" x 5"
January 11, 2011
By Tim Webster

About this Painting
This painting was just something that I thought up using only certain parts of what I could remember around the waters edge on Gay St. by the court house. I walked around a for a little bit taking in the city that was lit up by the moon light. I was able to grab a few photos from this night to better help me with some of the lighting. What I really enjoy about this one is the way the clouds are lit up from the full moon. I added the cityscape with only using certain points of the city.

Original Oil Painting on Canvas Panel

December 24, 2010
By Tim Webster

This painting was originally a gift to someone for Christmas. I just had to blog about this one, mainly because it was my most favorite and best piece that I completed in 2010. What I really like about this one is the amount of texture and how the colors smear together. I made this whole painting with a palette knife, and it has me wanting to many many more of these in this particular style. Check back often to see what I come up with in 2011. Also this is my 100th post, pretty excited about that as well! Hope everyone has a solid day!

Original Oil Painting on Panel
5" x 7"
January 4, 2010
By Tim Webster

So Ive been super busy due to the holidays and this is one of the first paintings Ive done since the new year rang in. I like this painting especially the texture. But that's not it, I really enjoyed painting the subject. I lived in Colorado for about a year and was able to take some really awesome photos while I was there. This was so much fun to paint, and I normally don't use only a palette knife to complete a painting, but since Ive been having so much fun using it..I figured why not. I hope you all had a great holiday!
