Ive been wanting to do something folk art-ish. And I thought, why not paint a pot of tulips. This whole painting was created using on a palette knife and tons of impasto. I love the texture on this and by sheer accident I rubbed a paper towel on it and made a pretty sweet pattern on the background of the painting. It was only a matter of time before I went back to painting Landscapes. This past weekend I set out in hopes of getting some solid landscape photos. I went all over Dorchester County in Maryland getting photos of everything that I thought would make for good upcoming paintings. This particular oil painting is the first of the series from that day, also one of my favorites. I love that there is not a cloud in the sky. But what really drew me to this photograph was the old abandoned farm tower along the treeline. More paintings are set to be done this weekend, stay tuned!

Last week I painted a still life coffee cup, and I had so much fun doing it and had such a great response from others that I felt I should paint another one! This one was a little more difficult because of the multiple colors and textures. Thought it was hard, it was also a great learning experience. This was a fun little painting to do. It was fairly simple to create. Basically I want to focus on basic shapes with very little mixing involved. What I like about this the most is that Ive never really painted pottery before, this being the first time. I really enjoyed this painting alot. And I do plan to paint a few more these in different prospectives in the near future. Thanks for looking!
